Prints & Commissions
Photographic and layered work for rooms, walls, collections, and specific places.
Blue Halide offers photographic works, layered prints, and custom commissions for homes, offices, hospitality spaces, private collections, and designed interiors. Each work is chosen or made in relation to atmosphere, scale, material, light, and placement.
Prints
Photographs are available as professional giclée prints, made to order from the Blue Halide archive. Size, paper, and framing are chosen with each client and quoted per piece.
Selected works are held in private collections.
Slit-scan prints
Digital slit-scan works, printed as professional giclée prints and framed and mounted by Ian. Each scan holds far more image data than a single print can show, so one capture can become different works depending on the crop and the proportions chosen. Pieces can be made as a series, or shaped to a specific wall.
Gel prints
Alongside photography, Ian makes layered gel prints built from photographic and documentary sources, made by hand in his home studio.
Commissions
A commission can start from a room, a wall, a person, a brand, an event, or a specific atmosphere. The result can be a photograph, a print series, a moving-image piece, a projection environment, or an installation.
What a commission includes
- A conversation and, where needed, a site visit.
- A written proposal with scope, format, and timeline.
- Production: photography, printing, framing, projection, or building the piece.
- Delivery or installation.
Public Art
Ian is included on the Washington State Arts Commission 2025–2029 Public Artist Roster and completed the City of Seattle Public Art Boot Camp in 2017.
